Meet the Team

  • Chief Underwriting Officer
    richard@cw-uw.com

Richard has worked in insurance for 29 years of which 27 have been spent in the Lloyd’s of London market, most recently as Head of Hull & War at Beazley. Whilst his first love will always be marine, he has underwritten several lines of business including marine hull & war, marine excess of loss, cargo, general aviation, offshore energy and terrorism & political violence.

Richard loves to explore our beautiful world and has lived and worked in London, France, Canada, Bermuda, Singapore, and Australia.

If he wasn’t setting up a new cutting edge, technology enabled MGA he would be sitting in a café on the Boulevard Saint Germain, drinking a glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and catching up on his reading.

  • Chief Operating Officer
    swati@cw-uw.com

Swati has over two decades experience of the intricate world of London Market insurance. For 17 years, she was a steadfast presence at Tysers, a prominent insurance broker, navigating the complex web of marine insurance and, more recently, heading up Operations at IQUW.

Swati has a deep-seated love for technology. She envisions a future where data analytics, artificial intelligence, and blockchain transform traditional practices, making the insurance process more efficient, transparent, and accessible.

Beyond the realm of insurance, Swati's adventurous spirit propels her into the captivating world of art. If not immersed in the insurance sector, she clandestinely desires to pursue a career as an art dealer.

  • Head of Hull
    richard.bridges@cw-uw.com

Richard commenced his London Market insurance career in 1987 and has been an underwriter since 1991.  In addition to underwriting Marine Hull & War, he has also underwritten Cargo, Marine Energy and Marine Liability Lines of Business.

Richard has in excess of 14 years’ experience as a Class Underwriter in Lloyd’s of London, most recently as Head of Hull and War at Travelers Syndicate 5000.

He has served on the Joint Hull Committee and is a past chairman of the JHC Navigating Limits Sub-committee.

If he wasn’t bringing this vast experience into this new, innovative MGA, he would most likely be found on a golf course or exploring the UK and Europe in his campervan with his wife and their two rescue dogs.

  • Head of Operations
    georgia@cw-uw.com

Georgia began her career in the London Market working as an Underwriting Assistant in the Casualty division at Hiscox. She found a love of problem solving and moved to supervising the central operations at the syndicate, across all divisions of the business. Georgia continued to focus on operational underwriting efficiency of all classes of business in her next role at IQUW, where she worked as the Operations Manager.

Georgia is passionate about automation and streamlining, as well as providing timely and quality data to help teams visualise, plan and make decisions. Although data is her day-to-day job, if she wasn't working in insurance, Georgia would be running a spin class studio which also doubles as a cat café.

  • Chief Financial Officer
    sam@cw-uw.com

Sam commenced his career at PwC, qualifying as an ACA in 2010. He subsequently worked in their FS deals team, providing transaction services focused on insurance and investment management.

He then moved into a corporate finance role at Pacific Investments, a diversified fund management group. Here he was responsible for deal origination and portfolio management across both real estate and financial services.

Most recently he was CFO at a London based insurance technology business which focussed on the intersection of data and technology and empowered intermediaries with tools to manage risk and distribute insurance products.

Sam is excited to help redefine the future of insurance, by embracing innovation and leading on the digital revolution, with growth aspirations to become a leading global specialty MGA.

If he's not to be found in the city, he will most likely be in SW London, coaching mini rugby, golfing or enjoying time with his young family. If he wasn't working in insurance, he'd be penning a novel, trying to become the next Jilly Cooper.

  • Head of Claims
    andrew@cw-uw.com

Andrew is a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and is an Associate of the Association of Average Adjusters. Having worked in marine claims for over 12 years within the Lloyd's and London insurance market, he actively handles and has a firm understanding of a wide variety of classes of business including Hull and Machinery, Marine Liability, and Marine Cargo. Andrew began his insurance career in 2012 on the Lloyd's of London Claims Graduate Scheme. Following this, he worked for five years at an international marine insurance broker, and a further six years at a major Lloyd's syndicate.

Andrew is an award-winning claims adjuster, winning the Young Claims Professional of the Year 2019 at the Insurance Insider Honours and the CII Rutter Medal 2022 for the best Fellowship submission. Andrew has continued his education at Bayes Business School, City University, completing his MSc in Insurance and Risk Management in 2023, and is now enrolled on the part-time Executive PhD programme in Actuarial Science.

If Andrew was not working in marine insurance, he would likely be pursuing a career as a lecturer in academia. The intellectual challenges and the dynamic environment of teaching would be a fulfilling path.

  • Underwriting Assistant
    alex@cw-uw.com

Alex joined Clearwater UW as an Underwriting Assistant, bringing a strong academic foundation following the completion of his BSc Economics degree at the University of Nottingham. Numerate and detail-orientated, he is excited to begin building a career within the London Market and contribute to the fast-paced world of insurance.

Away from the office, Alex enjoys keeping active - with most of his weekends filled up with hockey matches and park runs.

Alex has always taken every opportunity to explore the world, and if he wasn’t pursuing a career in insurance he would be found chasing the winter season from one ski resort to the next.
